Mixed results but worth buying

by David, from PA, United States Written on February 9, 2015
I have a mixed experience with this knife. The hardness and temper of the steel is spot on, the clip is perfect size and tightness for a shirt pocket in a work shirt, length is about right for general purpose. The issue I had and it may have been a fluke based on my experience with other Coast products is the angle of the cutting edge, it was about a 35 degree bevel which if it was an axe or something sure but as a knife is was unsuitable. I ended up pulling the stud, chucking it up in my lansky and putting a 25 degree edge on it and just for the heck of it brought it up to a highly polished stropped edge just to see if it would hold up. It has, and incredibly I can still wave it though paper months of use later. I did press the thumb stud back in, I only removed it because it was interfering with my sharpening near the ricasso. For 8 bucks I would sure as heck buy another one even if I had to grind the edge correctly again on it, totally worth the time and money, 11 is a bit much, I got mine at home depot.
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • Incorrect edge angle
Best Used for:
  • General Purpose

Not bad, for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on June 18, 2013
The knife is not a bad value for $11. However, the belt clip sticks out a little too far for me and the blade could hold an edge a little longer, even after light use. The handle does have a nice feel for blade control and the blade continues to lock into place tightly.
Pros: Handle has a nice feel
