This is not a normal katana! I thought I was buying a ko katana, didn't even notice the oversized blade, so I was surprised when it came. I was also instantly in love with it. It's a couple inches shorter than a typical katana, and completely oversized, so you have a heavy duty gargantuan that is relatively easy to maneuver on account of it's shorter length, and drops like thor's hammer because of its weight/size. Beautiful as well. Although the one I received was riddled with obvious flaws (I was wondering if optics planet is selling scratch and dent items for cold steel or something. The bo hi is all kinds of wavy on the inside, and it pokes you in the eye as soon as you look at it the light catches it. That said, the blade is very impressive looking. The wrap is very tight, only problem there is mine had like a burnt end sticking out of the knot like maybe 1/4 inch and it was hard and very sharp. My pinkie got scratched and cut every time I swung it , so I had to sand it. And the spacers on the sides are sticking out real bad all over both sides of the tsuka, but that doesn't effect function at all obviously. Oh, and the saya was either unfinished at the koiguchi or somekind of texture had been applied inside of it? Looked weird but the saya does have a super tight fit, which is so importantto me but hardly ever seems to be the case. Overall, a very solid sword at a decent price(on sale).
