Once when set down on hinge side and submerged a few inches in water in bottom of boat there was leakage but may have been own fault in not assuring that latches fully locked. The latches are a weak spot in my view. I would prefer a latch that locks down and squeezes the seal more positively. I would not store ii in water on its edge nor depend on it to protect very valuable equipment.
