Tarpon Review
There are probably only two uses for the Tarpon; keep it in your tackle box as a small but rust resistant fillet knife or, like me, wear it as a fun and quirky EDC on your belt. For a fish knife, it is not flimsy and holds an edge long term + it doubles as a bottle opener and flathead screwdriver. It comes w/ a bulky velcro attachment that I tossed, but the kydex sheath is top notch. It's "light as feather" and the handle has a little hole for tying a stopknot in w/ paracord (OD Green is ideal) This blade is the only fillet style knife I've found strong enough for other normal tasks. You wouldn't want to bushcraft w/ it nor depend on it for self-defense if you didn't have to, but it sure is hillbilly-tastic and not a bad choice if you want to get a reasonably size fixed blade alternative to your pocket folder.
Pros:
- Quality knife for what it is; a unique niche tool and conversation starter.
Cons:
- It's a fixed blade that wants to be a pocket knife.
Best Used for:
- fish and bottle caps
