Eric Spear's Review of Crimson Trace Laserguard Laser Sight for Kel-Tec PF-9 Pocket Pistol LG 435
I love my little PF-9. Unfortunately, part of what makes the PF-9 so concealable is it's size. Because of it's size, it has tiny sights. Because of the tiny sights, it's hard to aim. So, the addition of the Crimson Trace Laserguard Sight on this small pistol greatly increases it's usefulness. Now instead of having to try and see the sights, line them up, and keep them on target, it's more of a point and shoot process. Greatly decreases time to target sighting as you don't have to mess with the sights at all. Also, if the laser sight fails for whatever reason, the sights are still there as a backup. Also, does not increase the size of the pistol so it is still super concealable. And because of where the laser switch is located (on the grip) I don't have to worry about it getting bumped and inadvertently turned on while in my pocket. For this particular pistol (PF-9), a rail mounted laser didn't make much sense to me because it was wider than the pistol so would turn on when in my pocket because the swath was located on the side of the laser. The Laserguard laser works well for how I carry my PF-9.
Pros:
- Thinner than the pistol
- Won't inadvertently turn on when carried
- Instant on when you squeeze the grip
- no fumbling with activation switches
- turns off when you releas your grip
- looks like its part of the pistol
Cons:
- Slightly decreases the space in front of the trigger
- not easy to take on and off
Best Used for:
- Home defense and concealed carry
