I must say the Lightguard is a great little light. It fits the gun well and has a very intuitive activation. It uses a very broad light beam that lights up an entire room without being so bright as to have the light bounce back at you the way I have experienced with some other tactical lights. This also means it does not reach really far outside and does not have a center bright spot that can be used as a rudimentary pointing or close range aiming device. It will however light up the entire main room of my house from the front door without the dim areas around the sides.
I was surprised at how much weight it added to the XDM. We are not talking bricks here, but it is noticeable. I like the extra weight.
The only negative I have is that it has no off switch. This would be very helpful in some situations as the light can not be removed without disassembling it.
Over all I really like this light. Add an off switch and it would get five stars.

I was not sure it would fit my xdm compact 3.8 but it fits perfectly!!! Easy to install and use. The light is perfect for home defense. The battery is easy to find as well. Batteries Plus stocks them readily or you can get on Amazon. The Light Guard looks great on the xdm too!

This has enough output to illuminate any indoor environment. If you need more light than that because you are using a handgun at night time outdoors like cops do then go for a full sized light. But for the priciest a great addition to any home defense weapon.

Picked one up for my Springfield XDm.45. Fit snug, and held firm after multiple clips. Light is bright but dispersed quickly beyond ten meters. Still, solid light for close quarters/home defense. Would like to see toggle for strobe in later variants and o-ring seal to allow for submersion. Other than that great light.
Pros: User replaceable battery, easy to install, natural ergonomics
Cons: rubber gasket would be nice, not water resistant
