Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent value IR Laser!
I got this Laser as it has a great price. I have it mounted on my carbine for use with NVG's I have the dot centered in the beam of a sightmark IR illuminator which is also worth checking out. It would be nicer if it had a lower profile like the laser max uni(an excellent laser by the way) especiall...

Most Helpful Negative Review CT IR Laser
Works exactly as described/expected. However, it is certainly not a perfect laser device. The beam and dot are completely, 100% invisible to the naked eye. The only way to tell if the laser is on or not, is to look through your NV device (goggles, scope, whatever). There is no indicator at all. ...

Crimson Trace Rail Master Universal IR Laser Sight

by Frank Morales III, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on July 28, 2017
The item I purchased got one star because it was defective. It did not work with the provided battery and it did not work with a newly purchased battery. It did fit perfectly on my Glock 23. I will have to get one from the manufacture because the holster I have is fitted for my glock with this laser. :-(

Big bang for the buck!!

by C.W. Crisp, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 22, 2016
I purchased this after I bought a DBAL-i2...so I could a little something on another rifle. It has just as strong of IR beam (imo) as the DBAL. It is not as pin point, with a little more bloom, but I will be ordering another one for my MPX. The price difference between the DBAL and the rail master is about $600, so its an easy decision.
Pros:
  • Priced well.
  • smaller size
  • Lightwieght
Cons:
  • None I can think of.

Works great! Love it!

by Limopilot, from TX, United States Written on September 11, 2015
Just got it today and tried it out tonight. The range on this thing is amazing using my pvs-14. Not sure how far exactly, but like a previous reviewer said, 400 yards, sounds good to me. It will fit my handguns and rifles. So far, I'm very happy with this laser and highly recommend it.

Great Laser

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from AR, United States Written on March 27, 2013
I've got one of these and one of the UNI-MAX lasers. The Crimson Trace IR laser is a better value than the UNI-MAX. The Rail Master's 5 minute automatic shut off feature is great, and the switch position and housing are better designed than the competitor. The UNI-MAX is too easy to accidently bump and turn on, but it does have a remote switch available. If I had it to do over again, I'd have two of the Rail Masters and none of the competition.
Pros: Easy to use, 5 min shut off
Cons: No remote switch available

Nice little IR laser for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on March 3, 2013
Bought this to mount on a rifle for night hunting with a night vision device. Tested and works very well. The IR dot is visible for at least 400 yards. Doesn't bloom to badly when projected at a bright surface. Mount works on a 1913 mil-spec rail.

While construction is plastic, the unit seems well constructed. Adjustment for beam and on/off switch work well. The unit will auto-shutoff after a few minuets to conserve battery. Worried about water resistance as there seems to be points where water may seep in. The watch/camera type battery are expensive and don't last very long.

Have read of some issues with these units loosing aiming adjustment and also failing. Crimson Trace has fixed or replaced the units so the customer service sounds good. Overall I think it's a good value vs. quality/feature tradeoff. I didn't expect this nice of a product for money spent. IR laser are very expensive.
Pros: Good price, small/lightweight
Cons: expensive watch battery, plastic construction

The Economic Choice

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on February 4, 2013
For the price it is a excellent IR hunting option. Crisp and focused beam out to 150 meters. Used a mil-grade IR in Iraq and loved it, but bought the $1,000 less CMR-201 for hunting hog and could not be happier with the results.
Pros: Price, Versatility, Lightwieght
Cons: Hard to see past 200 meters
