JAC's Review of Crimson Trace Tactical Light for Rail-Equipped Long Guns, 900 Lumens
I'll admit because of the CT name and price, I bought two Crimson Trace 900 lumens Tactical Lights without any research. First the good news, they are bright, seem reliable and have a solid light mounting system. However, as a WML it's a fail.
The first problem is the "3 mode" operating system. This requires flashing the light through Hi, low & strobe to reach the desired setting. While this is merely annoying on a flashlight, it's a deal killer on a WML. There is no way, other than leaving the light on, to maintain a constant setting. The second issue is the remote switch. In this day and age why would anyone not supply a rail mount pressure switch. The sticky tape and (long) Velcro straps make for a very tacky and damage prone installation. In addition, there is no "safety off" switch provided, so during transport or storage there is a chance of inadvertent light activation. Best I can say is this is a 3 star flashlight but as a WML it only gets 1 star.
