Max Moore's Review of Crosman Benjamin Recharge Compressor

I purchased this Air Compressor for several reasons - Benjamin is a solid airgun name in the industry and has been around a long, long time (I've owned a couple in my youth). Optics Planet had this compressor for several hundred dollars less than any of the typical airgun places you buy this stuff from - so I was pretty excited.
I got the unit, bought some "Purple Synthetic Air Compressor Oil" and filled it as specified, then put coolant into the coolant reservoir, ran the pump, then replenished the reservoir so it was "stable" as directed. I then ran the compressor as directed, and it started runnning just fine . . . for about 40 seconds, then it stopped, made some strange noises, then quit. I turned the compressor off, and the coolant pump off - and noticed it was already off. I then tried to "start over" and see if it was just a "glitch". Nope - the reset wasn't tripped, yet all it would do is make a clicking sound, with the digital temp center digit partially flashing at regular intervals - it was "dead". Optics Planet's return policy is fantastic, and I am returning this air compressor tomorrow. I plan on finding something else - and there is a "QC Tag" with somebody's sign-off that it was good that you can't read the hand writing of. There's no way it was good, and I am very disappointed in Crosman and this product. They've been making this model long enough to "get it right" seems to me . . . but not so apparently. This is an "honest" review. I really liked it - but if it don't work, it aint worth anything, and my time is too precious to waste it playing QC games with their products.
Pros:
  • Excellent Features, design, lay-out and appearance.
Cons:
  • It was "all show" and failed to perform.
Would Recommend: No
