Most Helpful Positive Review Great little compressor.
For those in need of a HPA compressor there are numerous choices out there. I own another one distributed by Air Venturi and 13 months after it arrived it died and has been at there shop for 3 weeks awaiting repair. I'm a competitive target shooter who simply can't be without a compressor during the...

Most Helpful Negative Review Benjamin Recharge Air Compressor
I purchased this Air Compressor for several reasons - Benjamin is a solid airgun name in the industry and has been around a long, long time (I've owned a couple in my youth). Optics Planet had this compressor for several hundred dollars less than any of the typical airgun places you buy this stuff f...

Questions and Answers

Have owned the BR for 2+ years now and you something you should know. If you do not use the compressor for a while always remember to check the water tank for contaminates. I was having problems with compressor only running for a minute or two and shutting off. Temperature was rapidly going up, and then it would shut off. Took a while to figure out what was going on. Had to clean out the bottom of the water bottle and allow the water to flow throughout the compressor so that the temperature would not rise above threshold. After debris was removed, the compressor worked as advertised. It is a great compressor, and does an amazing job refilling tanks as well as PCP air rifles. Just make sure that the water pump is able to flow throughout the system. It took me a while to figure out what was causing it to shut down prematurely, however I was able to get to the root of the problem. You will probably have to get a very long screwdriver or device to get to the bottom of the tank and remove the crud. If possible try to use distilled water, if not plan on draining the tank when done. I sure hope this saves people time resolving problem with the Benjamin Recharge.
Pros:
  • fast recharge
Cons:
  • Customer service from Crosman
Best Used for:
  • Filling tanks and PCP air rifles

Great compressor for PCP

by Rob, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 11, 2022
This is a great compressor it does everything the manufacture says it should do. It filled my 6.8-liter recharge tank from 0 psi to 4500 psi or 300 bars in 70 minutes run time. The unit turned off as it is supposed to do after 40 minutes run time. I then let the unit cool down as directed per the instructions for approx. 25 min. Note the temp never got over 65 Celsius per the readout located on the unit. Once I started the unit up again it continued pressurizing the tank, but I notice the unit was starting to labor a bit and then it cut off and a light that was turned on in the room flickered at the same time. I had read about this unit possibly cutting off if it is plug into a 15-amp circuit because this unit does draw a lot of wattage and amps. Luckly, I have a 20-amp circuit in my house that I plug this unit into, and it started to run much smoother. The unit did not surge it seem to run a little faster and smoother. The house that I live in is fairly new and everything is up to code. So, I say all of this to say that this unit should run on a 20--amp circuit. Please note that this unit should only be operated within a well-ventilated area or room that is not located within a living space. This unit does off gas fumes which can be seen in certain lighting condition and one can also smell these fumes which most likely are not healthy for you.
Pros:
  • Run Flawlessly
Cons:
  • a little noise, but not bad.

Benjamin Recharge

by Black, from MD, United States Written on February 8, 2021
Compressor arrived in about a week. Packaged exceptionally well. Unpacked and filled with oil and water and the hard part was over. Hooked up to my carbon fiber tank and was topped off in a matter of minutes. Only time will tell how this unit holds up but it’s a dream as it is now. Runs rather quiet for the amount of work that it does. I’m impressed by the speed at which it gets the job done.
Pros:
  • water cooled, easy to operate, best price online
Cons:
  • None

happy with it

by Lee, from CA, United States Written on January 20, 2021
Optics planet was a few hundred dollars less than other sites and it shipped right away. The compressor has been working great, no complaints. It did arrive without instructions, but I downloaded instructions from the Benjamin website. Also found a loose screw when I opened the packaging, but easily found where it had come fallen from.

Nice compressor, great price, but slow shipping.

by Dennis Jang, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 2, 2020
This Benjamin compressor is great. Fairly easy to set up. Be careful not to overfill the oil. Add oil slowly, only to the top of the red dot. I made the mistake of adding to slightly above the top of the red dot which caused a bad burning oil smell when compressor is running. It took about 1 hour 10 min to fill a 74 cubic feet carbon fiber tank from 0 to 4500 psi. Optics Planet price was at least $300 lower than any other competitor that I could find, but be prepared to wait a couple of weeks to get it. The compressor was in stock, but it took 9 days for them to pick and ship it and another 4 days for it to arrive.
Pros:
  • fast, easy to setup and use, self-contained cooling,
Cons:
  • SLOW shipping
Best Used for:
  • PCP air rifles, paintball

Finally a great fast portable compressor!!!!

by Total Package, from NY, United States Written on January 12, 2020
With all the small compressors out there that can’t fill scuba tanks and all the big compressors that can but are not portable, thank God for this one!!! I have a yong heng compressor, yes it’s fast, but running around with water and ice is a pain, plus mine is leaking oil now. I needed one that was reliable and portable at the same time. This compressor is fast, easy to operate, and so far reliable. I fill my Texan, Bulldog, Talon, and Scuba tanks with this. Trust me, this compressor is the best of both worlds.
Pros:
  • reliability
  • Portable
  • ease of operation
  • fast filling times
Cons:
  • none yet
Best Used for:
  • Can fill all pcp guns/ Plus scuba tanks
