When looking for a mat I wanted something I could fit into a pocket of my rifle bag or side of my backpack that was reasonably light (<2lb). I mostly wantes something to lay on to get less dirty/wet pending terrain I'm posting up on, and if there was a tiny of bit of padding to add to comfort then great. This mat fits the bill well. It's light, durable, packs reasonable small. Has grommets to stake it down if you need, but I've never needed it. The elastic loops to roll it and keep it tight work well.

If you're mostly looking for a way to get more comfortable and don't need to move your shooting mat far, I'd consider a different thicker mat. But if you're looking for something easy to keep with you that doesn't add much weight or bulk, then this is a solid choice.
