I paired this rod with a Diawa reel and Daiwa J-Braid 8lb. J-Braid is what Daiwa suggests for any of their rod and reels. It's an awful combination. I don't know if it's due to how fine J-Braid is, but the tiny eyelets at the end of this rod cause the line to get tangled in some of the oddest ways I've ever seen. Especially if ripping through any coverage. I don't get why the end eyelets are so tiny. Horrible design. Unfortunate, because I like the feel of the rod itself. Be prepared to cuss like a sailor using this rod. I honestly hate it.
