I've been looking for a shoulder holster for some time and narrowed my search to DeSantis and Galco. I chose the DeSantis New York Undercover Shoulder Rig and very happy with my choice. The rig is very comfortable, balanced and once set up very functional; gun and magazines slip snugly into and out of the holster and holders. Both black and tan models are unlined. Optics Planet description indicates that the black model is lined and it is not. Being unlined provides just enough friction to keep the rig in place as you pull your pistol or magazine, and is comfortable to wear. The weight of the magazines balances out the weight of the pistol on the opposite side keeping the rig steady and you barely notice that your wearing a shoulder holster.
The rig does take some time to set up, because it's designed to stay together under adverse situations. So, it's hard to assemble and disassemble as you make adjustments to get the right set up for your physique, but well worth the time! For me I found that setting the front one adjustment notch higher than the back worked best. Knowing this before I began would have saved me about 10-15 minutes.
The magazines are usually pictured to open down towards the ground, but the DeSantis rig can be adjusted to open toward the front, which is a great feature that isn't available on the Galco and most other shoulder rigs.
