Devil dog concepts hard charger tactical - Devil Dog Concepts Hard Charger Rear Handle

I was looking for an side charger option for my AR-15 and it seemed like the Devil Dog Concepts HCT might be what I was searching for. I was excited when I the side charger was delivered but after installing it, my excitement turned into bitter disappointment. There was a lot of resistance whenever I operated the side charger. Looking into it, it turned out that the right side of charging handle supplied with the HCT was rubbing against the upper receiver and wearing out the side of the charging handle. I applied some grease to reduce the friction on the side of the charging handle but that didn't prevent the side from rubbing the upper receiver. And the side charging operation was not always smooth. On occasion the side charger would get stuck (on what, I have no idea) and not budge. I'd have to release the side charger handle and then try again for it to work again.

After shooting less than a hundred rounds, I noticed that the mount that holds the side charger to the picatinny rail had come loose so I tried to tighten it again. I tried to tighten it a little harder so that it wouldn't come loose again. Guess what? Trying to tighten the screw just caused the hex hole on the screw head to start stripping!!!

As far as I'm concerned, the Devil Dog Concepts Hard Charger Tactical is a real disappointment and has not met my expectation nor am I satisfied with it's operation and performance. It was just a waste of my hard earned $117.00!
