Cam's Review of DI Optical FC1 Red Dot Sight

Well I ordered this little red dot because I wanted something different for my rifle. Needless to say I should have just bought another Trijicon MRO or Sig romeo4. I have a slight astigmatism and all the reviews I have read said this was supposed to be THE solution for fuzzy red dots. Well I was disappointed because the dots on my MRO and Sig Romeo are much sharper to my eye. The ocular lens on this thing is like a mirror and reflects everything behind me, and has a bright red tint. The dot has a bright halo that surrounds it on some of the brighter settings. Also Im not a fan of the one button control on the red dot, but it was advertised that way so I cant complain too much on that. Honestly all these issues wouldnt bother me if this red dot were in a cheaper price range, but when its almost the same price as better red dots it kinda irks me. All that said the unit is super lightweight and compact and is pretty handsome, I really did like the square window on such a small red dot, its got a pretty good field of view. And the fact that it comes with a mount is pretty cool. long story short I REALLY wanted to like this red dot but it will be going back to Opticsplanet and exchanged for an MRO.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Comes with mount
  • Square Window
  • super compact
Cons:
  • Expensive for whats its worth
  • Fuzzy Dot
  • Halo on brighter settings
  • lower battery life than competitors
  • reflective ocular lens
