I wanted a slower reel for crankbaits and such. My main reel is a Daiwa Tatula CT. But I decided to try a Dobyns. My first one was defective. They wanted me to ship it back. I said I have had it for 1 day. I bought it directly from you. I don't think I should have to pay to send it back. So they emailed me a shipping label. Got the new one that worked fine. It is a smooth and cast far. The build quality could be better when you compare it to other reels. My Tatula CT has so much better build quality. It is $29 more. But that's money well spent. I have some Runcl reels I got from Amazon for around $45 and they are close in build quality. But the Maverick is so smooth it's amazing. Drags ok. I haven't hooked up to a big fish on it yet. But by pulling it and feeling it, it seems good. It stinks it's a all plastic housing. It is a nice reel but I think next time I will look elsewhere. To me there are more to choosing a reel then smoothness. I think people put to much emphasis on it than other things. I'm not saying for you to not get this reel. It's a good one. But I think it should be less than $99. Definitely check it out when shopping around. You might think differently than me.
