APX DPM recoil system

by MannFurd, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on May 13, 2026
The DPM recoil system is advertised to work with the APX compact and centurion model. When I installed it, I noticed that the piece of metal that sets in the notch toward the rear of the barrel is a lot thinner than the original recoil spring that comes with the pistol. That thinness made it supper easy to push the take down lever in. When trying to disassemble the fire arm the slide was difficult to remove. What was happening was the APX DPM recoil system was slipping off the notch where it suppose to sit. It would still have slide reciprocation but when it came to take down the take down lever was super easy to push in and difficult to remove the slide. I would have to lock the slide back push down on the DPM recoil system near the front of the barrel so the rear side of the recoil system would move up to sit in that notch area or close to it. Then I would slowly have to hold the slide back into battery pull the trigger then remove the slide. This takes serval attempts to do by the way. This was all observed at the time it was unpackaged from the mail, and was not tested under live fire. It might work very well in other guns but not so much for the Beretta APX compact/centurion. It is possible that I might have a bad DPM system. I will definitely be sending it back. I spent to much money for a part to cause this much problems.
