Better than i'd hoped for - Eagle Optics 8x42 Ranger SRT Water Proof Binoculars SRT-0842-3

I have a fine old pair of Swarovskis for field birding - a little heavy, but a dream in action. I needed a pair of binoculars that could focus down to less than two metres and be very good in poor light I was not satisfied with what birders were recommending so I went to sites where biologists who look for lizards, frogs, butterflies, dragonflies, etc., wrote about their experiences with binoculars. The Eagle Ranger stood out in this field and appeared to be the best buy. Not only has it surpassed my expectations, but is equally good in the field in general. And is superb value for money!
Pros: Overall characteristics, but for me - close focussing.
Cons: Not quite fluent with focussing mechanism yet, but it is me - not the binoculars
