R's Review of Eberlestock Bando Waistpack

Pros: Good company, good quality, good price. Does not have the tacti-cool look so doesn't draw attention.

Cons: Less than ideal for cross body carry. The strap position and angle (lower down and straight out from pack) cause it to pull away from chest slightly and is less comfortable than others when worn this way. They don't call it a sling bag so no knock on them, just be aware. Small front pocket has reinforced angle stitching (good for strength) but made it a tight fit for Iphone 12 with slim case. I chose the regular size, the XL would help.
The deal breaker for me was when using as a CCW bag. There is no structure between ccw and main pocket, just nylon. Tested with G26, TLR6 in slim universal velcro back holster. Minimalist Thread wallet, chap stick, eye drops and sanatizer in front slip pockets. Keys with ASP defender threaded through TQ loop. Nothing in open area, nothing in zippered mesh pocket. Phone in outer front pocket. With only these items it was VERY tight in main body. Worn cross body, high side toward dominant arm, tried drawing pistol. I regularly carry this way with other bags but this one was for the wife. Used zipper pull to unzip up and across top, reaching in with strong hand while holding zipper to steady. Fingers were completely stopped by items pushing through nylon preventing full grip before drawing. I really wish there was some padding between because I really wanted to like this bag. I considered putting some rigid foam or hdpe in mesh pocket, but already to tight for so few items. If worn waist pack style it is probably not an issue as you could unzip down far side but trying this cross body would require another motion to push zipper down and you wouldn't be stabilizing the bag upon draw.
Again, for EDC items without gun and/or waist wear it's probably a fabulous pack, just didn't work for me. If they redesign with structure here I would purchase for sure (and get XL because the regular is very small).
