hesty24's Review of Eberlestock Little Brother Pack

I have a Warhammer that I bought this to stick in the cargo bay on smaller missions, but have a Spike duffle in the cargo bay with the G1 on the outside/ top. However, an oversight that E stock didn't realize is that while having this zip in to the front zipper of the cargo bay, it would be nice if there were zippers on the back of the G1 so that it leaves the cargo bay empty for the spike duffle, but the G1 is lacking that zipper. So my issue is that if someone owned a J pack of whatever species and wanted to use both a G1 and a spike duffle bag, it could be done (as I have read), but you will not be able to secure both of them with zippers, and they will be at mercy of the compression straps only. What I would like for my application is the spike duffle zipped into the back of my Warhammer, and then place the G1 on top of the spike (zipped in). So that if I am on the move and items need to be accessed in the G1 by someone in my party, it might be difficult with respect to the compression straps to do such. Not undoable, but just difficult. My intentions would be to have my back up clothing packed tightly in the spike duffle; therefore, the heaviest closest to my torso, and lighter and smaller tangible items in the G1. At base camp, drop the Warhammer with the spike, remove Warhammer's waist belt, apply it to the G1, and go. Another reason for having the G1 on the outside is one could apply the saddlebags or 2 Liter pouches to the sides of the G1 further enhancing compartmentalization. So with that being said, this is why I give it 4 stars. The lumbar support pad is relatively thin with respect to the G1’s big brothers. I undoubtedly know that this is due to the pack’s intentions of being placed in the cargo bay of the J series packs. A bigger pad would mean less room for supplies in the pack as a thicker pad would displace the amount of residual room within the pack once set in place of the J series pack. Something that I didn’t realize is that the shoulder straps are NOT adjustable like other E stock packs (meaning you cannot adjust it for height), so one size might not fit all. I am 5’ 11” and it fits just fine. Just thought that I would point that out for some that might be shorter or taller than I am. I like the pack for what it is, but it could definitely be improved.
Pros:
  • A lot of molle webbing, small profile, relatively inexpensive, E stock quality
Cons:
  • Not height adjustable, no zipper in the rear of pack
Would Recommend: Yes
