Old guy - elk hunt - Eberlestock J34 Just One Backpack

I recently used this pack on a two week hiking and Elk hunt and have a love hate relationship with the pack. In the smaller mode it is heavy for a day pack and bulky. However, carrying heavy Elk quarters over 5 miles off a Colorado mountain was very comfortable and easy to balance the load. I am 64 years old and was not sure about this pack because of the weight, In fact as a day pack it is comfortable but too heavy. While I love the concept and will use it again for a day pack I would go with something lighter that has a rifle carrier. I would recommend this pack if weight was not an issue.
Pros: Hands free, Comfortable, Carries heavy loads well
Cons: Heavy in the smaller mode and bulky.
