Fits like a square peg in a star shaped hole.

This product had me excited but let me down for several reasons. The grips do not fit my Remington R1 1911 Enhanced Stainless. The holes don’t line up so the grips won’t even go on, and even if the holes did line up, the safety cutout is too shallow so the grip won’t fit flush. Are these grips to be custom fit by a qualified gunsmith? I tried 2 Ed Brown products, the aluminum 1911 trigger and these grips. Both products are very poor, I am never buying Ed Brown products ever again. I ended up going with Wilson Combat which I have already installed (trigger and grips) and both are BEAUTIFUL. I STRONGLY recommend avoiding Ed Brown 1911 products and instead going for the Wilson Combat 1911 products.
Pros:
  • The Cocobolo wood is a tasteful, beautiful species.
  • At least Ed Brown tried
Cons:
  • waste of time/money/effort
  • Waste of beautiful exotic Cocobolo
  • appears to need custom fitting by qualified gunsmith, so lets home the gunsmith is excellent at woodworking.
Best Used for:
  • woodworking
  • conversation piece
  • Cocobolo species sample
  • DIY 1911 summer project
  • Easy to reach scratches
