Pricey but Rare

by Andon, Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on November 23, 2024
Been looking for a 357sig conversion for Beretta 96 for a long time. Seen them come and go a few times. Finally saved the money and waited for a sale plus coupon plus free shipping from Optics Planet. Still more than I wanted to pay but at least it came with the locking lug which I didn't realize it included so that's a $40 value right there. Still too expensive. We'll see how it does in the break in period. I got the threaded version so I could use a comp with it. I already have the Beretta factory frame buffer, the Wilson plastic frame buffer and the upgraded Beretta metal captive recoil system so we'll see how it goes. I might have to change down to a lighter recoil spring from Wolff if the cheap ammo doesn't cycle.
Pros:
  • Finally have it
Cons:
  • Pricey
Best Used for:
  • fun

BEWARE Gunsmithing is required which is not disclosed here in the description

by X, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on May 9, 2024
Something that is not disclosed until you actually get the barrel is that it needs to be fitted to the gun. Had that been disclosed upfront I would have never had purchase it. Optics Planet has a good return policy and I just dropped it off in the mail to return it and get my money back. The problem with mail order is if the all the facts are not disclosed up front it causes issues, in my case extra time and expense for the gunsmithing. This all could have been avoided if this very important fact was disclosed in the product information. Based off of my experience with this product I can not give my recommendation at this time. Based off of my experience with Optics Planet with this return, I will be purchasing from Optics Planet in the future.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • NEEDS GUNSMITHING
