Elcan Specter 1.5x/6x Dual Role Optical Sight CX5456 Illum Reticle
I bought my Elcan Specter DR for my FN Scar 17s chambered in 7.62 NATO. I dialed in the scope at the recommended 100 yards. The first shot was about 12 inches too high and 12 inches to the left. Each click of the elevation and windage adjustment moves the bullet 1/2" respectively. 24 clicks on both adjustments placed the bullet on the bullseye. Great optics cost money. While the Elcan product is expensive...it delivers. I love it! My only complaint is it did not include lens covers. A scope that expensive should at least include that.

Put this bad boy on top of my Scar 17s and couldn’t be happier! The glass clearity is right up there with the ACOG ! The functionality between the 1.5 to the 6 zoom is just a simple throw lever ! The option to able to luminat your cross hair or having a red dot for CQC is a excellent feature. Is it expensive, yes but worth every penny!! Any one who owns a scar 17s this optic is a must own !
Pros:
clear glass
easy to use
Heavy Duty
Cons:
Expensive
Best Used for:
anything

The Elcan Specter 1.5x/6x is an astron an excellent scope. A great match to a Scar 17s. Easy to install, adjust, and range. Optics Planets provided excellent support and customer service. I would definitely recomment the Elcan and Optics Planet.

It is riding piggy-back on my SCAR 17s right now. Love the concept of 1.5x-6x. Glass is perfect. It's rugged. Used extensively by Special Operations troops carrying the SCAR heavy in dangerous places. It is expensive, but it is exactly what a 7.62 NATO rifle needs. Wish it were less expensive, wish it came with a scope cover. Otherwise, excellent.

There is tons of info re: Elcan Specter on the web. So I don't need to go into detail about the unit. It is made by a division of Raytheon, a favorite os Special Forces in particular Canadian. It is compact but robust so heavy for its size. The controls are different than any other unit on the market but easy to understand and get used to. This unit is designed and engineered for combat. - real combat - and can go from 1.5x to 6x with the flip of the side lever. I would prefer to have this unit on my combat rifle to any other out there, if I were at war.
This particular unit is designated for 7.62 NATO (the reticle reflects 7.62 ballistic drops). This 7.62 unit is larger and heavier still than its 1x/4x 7.62 counterpart.
So the Elcan is best of class. Why am I giving it 4 stars. Because my unit came with a non-adjustable ARMS mount, which means it will not fit all Pic rails right out of the box (will require use of shims - this is also documented in articles on web). Doesn't make sense. Now I have to contact AMRS about getting an adjustable mount if I want to be able to use it on multiple platforms.
Pros:
Best of Class despite cons
Cons:
Heavy
Expensive
Non-Adjustable ARMS mount
Best Used for:
Combat 0-200 Meters
