Everyone loves the ELCAN because they’ve seen them on SCAR 17’s in pictures. I carried one on a scar 17 (check that) carried 3.. my unit had the 1x4 and 1x6, and both have issues. The rotating magnifier internally will shift and won’t hold zero. Out of 10 all but one failed in under a year. For those who call BS and own one. Grab the optic w/it mounted up. Now rock it left to right. Notice any play? Yep.. the way it adjusts for elevation causes slop in the mount. Put a couple of hundred rounds of 308 under it and it’s great on an area weapon. Don’t waste your cash. Get a Leupold Mk-6 1x8 and mount it w any Larue mount. Or any trijicon fixed power. EOtech w/a magnifier works fine too. Who asked about putting an elcan on a 9mm?? That thing will weigh as much as your weapon.
