Great product but old style mount thus 4 stars instead of 5 - OpticsPlanet Exclusive Elcan SpecterDR Dual Role 1-4x32mm Rifle Scope

There is tons of info re: Elcan Specter on the web. So I don't need to go into detail about the unit. It is made by a division of Raytheon, a favorite os Special Forces in particular Canadian. It is compact but robust so heavy for its size. The controls are different than any other unit on the market but easy to understand and get used to. This unit is designed and engineered for combat. - real combat - and can go from 1x to 4x with the flip of the side lever. I would prefer to have this unit on my combat rifle to any other out there, if I were at war.

This particular unit is designated for 7.62 NATO (the reticle reflects 7.62 ballistic drops). There is a comparable unit for 5.62 Nato. This 7.62 unit is larger and heavier still than its 5.62 counterpart. But smaller and lighter than its 1.5x/6x 7.62 counterpart (which is the biggest and heaviest).

So the Elcan is best of class. Why am I giving it 4 stars. Because my unit came with a non-adjustable ARMS mount, which means it will not fit all Pic rails right out of the box (will require use of shims - this is also documented in articles on web). Doesn't make sense. Now I have to contact AMRS about getting an adjustable mount if I want to be able to use on multiple platforms.
