Beans's Review of Elite Survival Systems CO Shooters Belts
The Cobra buckle enhanced CO Shooters belt is perfect if used as intended; CCW. The CO is for the buckle. 1.5” is for everyday pant- belt loops. Yes, I have to undo the male side for putting on a new/ clean pair of pants. Yes, the tip will have to be maintained. Just the tip.
These I call trade-offs as there is no perfect belt for everything.
I’m well over 1/2 a century old with a well rounded experience in belts, clothing and secure buckles. I’m a Up-Rigger in the stage and lighting industry. I’ve also rock climbed and tethered myself to Air frames, lift frames and fast attack jeeps some years back. I’ve also spent a few years diving shoreline commercially (boat cleaning). I know my webbing material.
I agree with most of the positive aspects on previous reviews. I wouldn’t back the negative points listed. Most negative reviews appear to lack experience and stray from the intended use of the product.
Here’s why: I have several Cobra buckle equipped belts and I wear this one (1.5”) the most.
The Cobra buckle is not meant to unlatch under load. It will be difficult to disengage as that is the intended purpose. That said: it is my fastest belt to unbuckle when I have to go potty.
It is not meant for rapid adjustment. I maintain my gut size and never eat-drink so much I have to unbuckle my belt or pants. Please learn some self control before judging a unique yet simple belt/ buckle combination.
I have a 28” waist bare. With jeans and underwear, the small reaches around to my 4 O’Clock providing double thick 1.5” webbing for a stiff 3 O’ Clock OWB carry. Carrying appendix offers flexibility. I easily slide the 1.5” buckle under the left front belt loop to mount a IWB appendix holster. I can move it to double non velcro supported webbing (for a small/ lite pistol) or the almost triple layer velcro supported web belt to carry a larger pistol (G19). Yes, my 130lbs. frame can hide a standard compact pistol.
The soft loop velcro reaches all the way to my six. It can fit my gal with her 24” waist as well. I have comfortable leather belts that match my everyday boots I no longer wear. This belt has replaced them and blends well but compliments my style of dress. I’m no slouch in the style of dress department. I’m not the grey man and I dislike how cops dress off duty. I’ve steered far from any tactical clothing since my 6 years in the Armed Forces (Circa 90’s). I work as I play as I train for fitness and fight. Chinos (sometimes jeans) and t-shirts augmented with button down shirts/ wool blend sweaters & coats.
I bought the Wolf Gray because it was more affordable. The pictures make it look silver-ish. It has a sheen but the color is like a dark silver. The sheen reflects some light and that adds a chameleon like feature. It actually looks more green with my green chino pants or grayish blue with blue-jeans.
What are tactical pants? 1.75” to 2” belt loops? Cargo pockets? Thick chamois lined waist bands? FDE in color? I say tactical pants are mission dictated. That’s FUD-wear in my humble opinion.
Thick cotton jeans can be just as tactical as summer ripstop pants. My old ripstop button-fly pants are my favored (family friendly) camping pajamas. My summer ripstop pants have a thin profile and require some extra material to carry comfortably. This is not a wear with your hybrid board shorts belt.
The CO Shooters belt by ESS is an amazing clothing accessory and I’ll purchase at least one more.
I’ve no compensation from ESS nor do I have any skin in the game. If anything, I’d like to be considered a literary Q-brach for the public.
