The goggles are exactly what you would expect from ESS...outstanding. Essentially no visual distortion, great fit and quality. Authorized for Army use. I decided to purchase the turbofan version as I wear corrective inserts and have always had a problem with fogging, especially since I sweat a lot when training/working/etc. I found that the turbofan did a GREAT job of preventing my inserts/glasses from fogging. The automatic timer works to turn off the fan if you forget it. The fan on low is impressively quiet, and when worn with hearing protection (MSA commo headset) it is essentially silent. There is a large increase in noise and fanspeed from low to high. The only drawbacks that I find with these goggles is the battery pack is placed asymmetrically on the goggle band where it sits slightly off center, and it has two small tacky surface strips on the back which leaves mostly exposed plastic on the inside. This is of little problem, as most of the users of these goggles are wearing helmets, but I would have covered a majority of the back surface of the battery pack with rubberized coat to ensure it stayed in place and didn't slip if struck/rolled on. I was mad at myself for not purchasing earlier. Optics planet's service was very satisfactory, they finished my Rx inserts in a comparable timeframe, and the packaging was appropriate and protective.
Pros: Excellent quality and goggle clarity, turbofan DOES work (is not a gimmick, especially if you have glasses/inserts)
Cons: he battery pack required for the turbofan on the goggle band
