Most Helpful Positive Review ESS Turbofan Goggles
The goggles are exactly what you would expect from ESS...outstanding. Essentially no visual distortion, great fit and quality. Authorized for Army use. I decided to purchase the turbofan version as I wear corrective inserts and have always had a problem with fogging, especially since I sweat a lot w...

Most Helpful Negative Review Bad coating, de-laminates if sweat drips over it
Don't invest in these expensive goggles if you ever sweat. I teach in FL and the humidity is 75-90 percent most days if not more. We call it the Air That You Wear. I loved the way these did not fog. This is most important. They did not fog. However, as much as I sweat, the sweat runs through my hel...

Great...when new...terrible when old...

by Twiz, from TN, United States Written on January 8, 2024
For the money you would think these things are built to last...you would be wrong. I have owned a pair for many years now and the lenses are still really good (and can be replaced). HOWEVER< the foam was "dead" after only a year or so AND IS NOT REPLACEABLE. I have used some workarounds that worked a little but for HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, this should be a user serviceable product in all respects. If the padding lasted longer, or better still was replaceable, this would be 6 out of 5 stars...but given the padding lasted just barely over a year and their warranty covers nothing past a year...NOT worth the $$$$$$ (unless you are rich and can replace these every year or so).
Pros:
  • Fan works great
  • Hugh quality lenses
Cons:
  • Very expensive
  • Short life span
Best Used for:
  • Rich people

Very nice goggles...until the foam degrades...

by Twiz1, from TN, United States Written on October 4, 2022
Very nice goggles. I enjoyed them for about 18 months, which is when the foam began to rapidly degrade. Almost $200 for these and they don't sell replacement foam. Which is odd since the description always has stated "ESS Modular Technology allows for easy replacement of all product components." Yet when you contact customer service they basically say after the 1 year warranty you are out of luck...not shockingly recommended I buy a new set of goggles...smh. So now they are $200 worth of garbage unless I can find an aftermarket foam. I cannot recommend these because of the short life span, high cost, and lack of product support (I called and asked about the foam and they said.

Good idea ; baad communication.

by bluedragon, from CO, United States Written on May 28, 2017
I asked for goggles that would fit over large frame Trifocals. at was sent came almost close. Can Itrade them in for store credit? The goggles are fine for what they are: I can't use them. They are strong functional work great without my glasses. This leaves me like Mr. Magoo at the shooting range: a blind man with a loaded pistol.

best military goggles tried

by Legacy Reviewer, from NC, United States Written on November 21, 2011
Best military goggles ever tried. Not so expansive for the quality and lens resistance you get, not heavy, fit perfectly/softly on nose (even with balaclava/hat). 2 speed fan; max speed has a bit noisy sound, but acceptable. Highly reccomended...
Pros: high quality made
Cons: little noisy fan /max speed

ESS Profile TurboFan Military/Tactical Goggles

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 7, 2011
I'm an airsoft player, and I'm using this product for airsoft.Honestly, the first time you pick up this google you don't have a nice sensation,I expected a more toughness feeling. However, they are well assembled, and at a better look you can see the quality of this product. The fan is effective, but you have to use it an advance to avoid fog.The fan has two level of intensity, the first is quite noiseless, but the second is more noisy. In addition, they are very comfortable to wear.
Pros: Light, confortable, the only valuable anti-fog system
Cons: High price

Goggles keep you fog free in most humid environments

by DocMolar, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on November 6, 2011
These goggles stood up to the challenge of a Miami summer which is about as humid as it comes. They don't fog. Field of view is great, I like the ability to swap out lenses. Down side is the fan makes some noise. So I don't recommend them for hunting or other work which must be real stealthy. Also compared to other goggles they are a little bit heavier so if you wear them for longer periods you are going to feel it.
Pros: Good optical quality on the lenses, work as advertised
Cons: fan makes some noise so not for times when you must be totally quiet, and they are a bit heavy

Good, but not with a helmet

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 22, 2011
Alright maybe I am being a little harsh, but for my system this is not the best thing and honestly i do not know what else would work. With non helmet I have not experienced a fogging problem but these occasions have been once or twice. With my system, I run a ops core helmet and I believe that the fan just does not have anywhere to push the how air to. It never foggs but the fog proof coating on inside of lense gets fully saturated with moisture and becomes dostorted. Like looking through an old window. The moisture collects at the top and works it's way down. I have mostly used these goggles on very humid days with a helmet when I am hot as all get out. This may not be the case in all situations. Saturation ususally starts within 5 minutes on high setting. Fan is also VERY loud on high. With ear plugs, helmet, and fan on high it would be hard to have a conversation in normal tone of voice from 10 feet away seriously. Low setting is not bad at all. Still can be heard but could definately have a normal conversation while tooning out fan noise. Fits great and very comfortable quality materials.
Pros: ballistic eye protection
Cons: glass still saturates even when fan is on high with helmet
