weeman's Review of Eureka Summer Pass 3-Person Tent
My fiance and I used this tent in the Congaree National Forest in SC in August. It was quite warm and very wet as we had a large storm the first night. Even in heavy sustained rain, only a few drops of water ever entered the tent which is understandable and didn’t bother us. Otherwise we felt completely secure in the storm. The space is about normal for a 3 person tent, meaning it fit the two of us comfortably with some of our gear inside as well. The vestibules provided a nice space for things like shoes, dirty clothes bags, etc which also stayed dry out of the rain. It was fairly easy to set up. However, the instructions are incredibly simple and left me wondering if I had done it exactly as intended. It was a little warm in the tent because we had everything shut due to the rain. I’m not sure that can be helped. When the rain dissipated, we opened everything up and there was decent airflow but still a bit warm. But hey, it’s August in SC… The tent is also fairly heavy. I would not want to hike with this thing. For camping where the vehicle is nearby, it’s great.
Overall, for the price I’m happy with the purchase. I accomplished what we needed and didn’t break the bank. If we get into more hiking/camping trips we may need something a little less bulky and more lightweight. But it’s great at keeping out the rain and bugs, which is all you really need anyway!
