Very nice optic for under $600

Written on Oct 08, 2025

I bought this for my first bolt action which is a Ruger American Gen2 Ranch in .308. I don’t have much experience with rifle optics. That being said, this one is very clear to look through. It lets in a lot of light and I can see my target perfectly.

The elevation and windage knobs have a nice tactile response “click” as well as the illumination knob. I love that the illumination knob has an “off” click between each level of illumination. That way I can go straight to full brightness (which is very bright even in full daylight) or minimum brightness if it’s dark out and I want a subtle but visible reticle.

It feels to be a good solid construction and it looks beautiful. It came with all the accessories you could want for an optic, including a sun shade, clear flip up covers which I absolutely love because in an “emergency” you can still see through your optic without removing them. A silicon style cover, etc.

The 2-16x magnification range is great and the 50mm objective size lets in so much light.

I am very pleased with this optic. I used High Leupold PRW2 30mm rings for my Gen2 American and they work great.

Great binos for a good price

Written on Oct 08, 2025

I got these on sale for about $100 and for that price, I couldn’t be happier. They work great, they’re a nice construction, and they came with all the expected accessories. I’m sure there are better products out there but for entry-level binos I’m very happy with the purchase.

Must-have!

This thing is awesome. It packs up so small, about the size of a small bowl. It works flawlessly and boils water so fast I could barely believe it. While grinding my coffee for my aeropress in the morning, I started boiling the water and it was at full boil before I had even ground 18g of coffee! It also boiled the water for our freeze-dried camping meals very quickly which was nice after a full day of hiking when we were hungry and tired.

Bottom line, this thing is compact and it works very well. I will be using it on every camping trip from now on.

Good tent for the price

Written on Oct 08, 2025

My fiance and I used this tent in the Congaree National Forest in SC in August. It was quite warm and very wet as we had a large storm the first night. Even in heavy sustained rain, only a few drops of water ever entered the tent which is understandable and didn’t bother us. Otherwise we felt completely secure in the storm. The space is about normal for a 3 person tent, meaning it fit the two of us comfortably with some of our gear inside as well. The vestibules provided a nice space for things like shoes, dirty clothes bags, etc which also stayed dry out of the rain. It was fairly easy to set up. However, the instructions are incredibly simple and left me wondering if I had done it exactly as intended. It was a little warm in the tent because we had everything shut due to the rain. I’m not sure that can be helped. When the rain dissipated, we opened everything up and there was decent airflow but still a bit warm. But hey, it’s August in SC… The tent is also fairly heavy. I would not want to hike with this thing. For camping where the vehicle is nearby, it’s great.

Overall, for the price I’m happy with the purchase. I accomplished what we needed and didn’t break the bank. If we get into more hiking/camping trips we may need something a little less bulky and more lightweight. But it’s great at keeping out the rain and bugs, which is all you really need anyway!

Cheap and does what it needs to!

This mounted perfectly and easily to my new MDT Field Stock. It’s very easy to use. No frills, no complications, it just holds the rifle steady. For the price, I haven’t found a better one out there. It matches the FDE on my Banish Suppressor and MDT Field Stock perfectly and the rifle looks beautiful.

Easy, inexpensive upgrade!

The stock came on time, in a well-packaged box along with the bipod I also purchased. The only thing that might have been missing was a replacement for the bolt release pin. The installation video I watched from MDT said that I would need to replace the bolt release pin with a new, longer one but maybe that was only for the Gen 1 Ruger American. Time will tell if that’s an issue or not.

The chassis itself is incredibly easy to install. It feels very rigid and sturdy and the construction looks good. It matches my Banish suppressor in FDE and the MDT Bipod perfectly. The adjustable cheek riser makes a huge difference in getting a good eye picture quickly and I love having so much M-LOK to play with now.

I have no shot it yet unfortunately but based on videos and other reviews I have no doubt it will be an improved experience over the original stock.

Sturdy and simple

Rings were solid, nice finish, positive lock to the rail. The description said they were "high" "30mm height".

It turns out they're actually "very high" "35mm height" which was way too much for my Helix 2-16x50 on a Ruger Gen 2.

I returned them and got a set of Leupold prw2 rings that cost less and seem to be just as good. However I did like the nut style screw on the element rings. I got a set of 27mm high Leupold rings and I still could've probably gone to a 25mm or so

Great scope at low price

Written on Jul 05, 2025

This is my very first rifle scope purchase so I'm by no means an authority in these things but here's my experience:

Great packaging with lots of extras included. Sun shade, rubber covers, plastic see through flip up covers, tools, stickers, and a well put together manual.

The glass is clear and bright in the day at all magnifications and the reticle is clear with great illumination even in the sun.

Turrets are positive and click well. Construction feels very solid. All dials work perfectly.

Only missing part of the review is low light clarity but I feel great about this purchase for the price!
