comrad's Review of Evolution Gun Works Picatinny Scope Mount, Henry
Really nice fit from an American company. I have mine mounted to an Heirloom Henry Long Ranger and it fits perfect (Heirloom just means we got to pick our serial numbers). This rail should fit all Henry Long Ranger models.
The back of the mount (where the hammer sits above) is rounded and provided a great fit for where your thumb will be for a lot of your shooting.
The cutout along the top of the rail is nice, so you can leave your iron sights and have a “peep” view under your scope mount (depending on the scope you select).
Hex screws provided were high quality, machined well and they provide you the proper hex to use and the torque specs…and an extra hex (my kit had 5, which is a nice thing to have just in case for the future).
The overhang at the front (toward the muzzle), literally overhangs the flat cut out of the top of the rifle, so you end up getting 3/4 of an inch extra room to adjust your scope rings. The rail is a tad over 5” and, with a little blue Loctite (we use 243), should provide a lifetime of service.
Note: the holes on the rifle run THROUGH and into the bolt, so put the Loctite on the screws/threads first (on a napkin) let drip dry, then install…you can also wipe the interior where the bolt is housed just to be safe if you go overboard on the glue.
20lb is screw settings and you can go a little lower if you’re using Loctite.
Good luck!!!
