Here is a heads up to save you a minimum of $170 - The included screws with the base plate are COARSE THREAD screws, the screws included to mount the Vortex Venom are FINE THREAD screws. If you use the screws included in Vortex Venom as per the instructions of the optic, you will cross thread and destroy your base plate. It happened to me while using the supplied Vortex Venom screws and with a torque driver set at only 15 inch pounds as listed in the installation instructions of the base plate. Now I'm out $50 for the base plate, $35 to have the first one installed, another $50 for a new base plate, along with another $35 to have the current base plate removed and a new one reinstalled and as a result of cross threading the screws in the base plate I had to cancel my reserved range day without refund. Ive waited two months to get time off from work with my friends, setting up appointment at a gunsmith to have the base plated mounted, and to reserve a slot at the range, only to have this happen while mounting the optics the day before my reserved day at the range. Overall this is one of the worst experiences I've had and this base plate is made for only my Springfield XD pistol and only for two different optics; a Vortex Venom and a Burris optic. WHY WOULD YOU USE A DIFFERENT THREAD PITCH THAN THE MANUFACTURER OF THE OPTIC AND NOT INCLUDE A WARNING AS STEP 1 OF THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TO ONLY USE THE SCREWS SUPPLIED WITH THE BASE PLATE?!
