My quick access safe is said to house up to five ARs. Well, that's if there is no optics on them; even with a red dot, it's an inch too tight for the door to close securely.
That's where this folding pistol grip comes in so handy, it just gives me much needed space. Helps to fit two rifles in a case for a single rifle, too, or use lower profile case. 10 rd magazine sticks out about as far as this handle folded.
To fold the handle, one needs to push an oversize slotted screw on the left side (not shown in the picture); it's stiff, I can only do it with my thumb if I twist my wrist the right way to help it; sometimes I put my other thumb over to help pushing it; I am not particularly strong-handed, yet there are plenty people out there with yet weaker hands or with arthritis, who may have trouble operating that button. It only locks in the unfolded position, so unfolding it is easy, and that's what matters in an emergency. The rifle can be fired with the grip folded, too, though holding it that way is a bit awkward.
There is a storage compartment for batteries and what not; I need to use a small flat screwdriver to push the catch open; a penny or dime should work, too.
I ended up buying one of these handles for each AR I have, plus one more for a VZ-58, using and adapter. (AK adapters are also plentiful.)
Some people dislike finger groves as they don't fit every person's hand. These work fine for me with my L-sized hands.
