Tyler Moody's Review of FAB Defense GLSHOCKCP Recoil-Reducing M4/M16 Buttstock

I bought one on a whim and after using it bought 2 more. Yes it requires a love tap to get it to initially slide on milspec buffer and it is slightly loose on the tube when installed but this thing performs! I personally didn't really care about slight stock to tube slop because they went on thumpers, and the looseness is so minimal its truly not even worth mentioning. If you want a super tight interface then don't buy a stock that states that it fits both milspec and commercial tubes. I have one on a Stevens .243 mounted on a MTD chassis, one w/o cheek rest on a VR80 semiauto 12 gauge shotgun, and one mounted on an AR-15 in .50 beowulf(12.7x42mm). They all function as designed and properly "GLSHOCK". They have an internal spring and momentarily collapse upon recoil impulse when shooting and soak up felt recoil. This makes drum dumps a blast with the VR80 equipped with a MKA 1919 20rd drum, no bruised shoulders and follow up shots are effortless and right on target. Same thing with when shooting the beowulf with 34rds in a MWG 90RD snail magazine (yes 34 beowulf rounds fit and function in the mag!). When you living that big bore drum life and hucking 400gr 50cal or 12 gauge rounds downrange and you don't want mush for a shoulder then I highly recommend this stock. If you want something similar at a better price point then the only other alternative I've found that comes anywhere close to this is the Adaptive Tactical EX Performance Adjustable M4-Style Stock($39@OP). Now if FAB Defense could put the butt pad from the EX Performance on the GLSHOCK then it would be perfect, or better yet make a GLSHOCK pistol brace (partner with Gearhead Works Tailhook mod2 PLEASE!). Anyone complaining about this stock needs to take back some pop cans for the deposit so they can afford a better brain!
Pros:
  • Soaks up felt recoil
  • Allows faster follow up shots
  • Saves your shoulder when planting freedom seeds
  • Makes your wallet hate you and your big bore ammo purchases
  • Gives boomsticks surgical precision
  • Killer price when factoring in OP bonus bucks
Cons:
  • Textured rubber has ridges and feels like aggressive truck tire tread, should be softer with no ridges
  • Slight looseness on buffer tube due to extra tolerances to be compatable with both milspec and commercial tubes
Best Used for:
  • shotguns
  • Big Bore
  • Saving shoulders
  • Being able to use your dominant arm after range day
