JM's Review of RTS Targets Self-Healing Static Target

Purchased the red version and have been using on my home range on/off for about 6 months. So far, after a lot of hits from both 9mm and 45ACP, the target itself has held up very well with minimal “permanent” damage. However, the red color makes it very hard to see hits from any distance beyond 15 yards (at least with my eyesight). I started putting adhesive backed splatterburst style targets on the body and head, but they’d always fall off after a few hits. Figured that there might be some type of residual oil on the target itself and cleaned with acetone. Now the targets won’t come off - at all - ever. I just keep sticking new targets on top of the old. Probably should have just spray painted it before every range session.

Also, hit the post with one .45 round - dead center - and it broke in half at the hole. At first, it stayed together but after a night of freezing temperatures it was in two pieces the next morning. Maybe water froze in a crack? The posts are cheap to replace, but I don’t think one shot should be the limit regardless of the weather.

Overall, target is good at self-healing, but I wouldn’t buy again. I think there’s better alternatives on the market.
