Amazing barrel 16" gov't/socom
Got mine in a few weeks ago, but I just broke it in, so I figured I'd now get around to reviewing it.
First, the quality alone for the price is to die for. The barrel is well balanced, feels good in hand, and everything measures to spec.
I wanted a medium profile barrel for a few reasons while maintaining a reasonable budget (complete upper -$600). My boss recommend Faxon for this reason alone, and I'm glad I listened.

faxon barrels
I've been running faxton barrels for years. wouldn't run anything else

Very tight groups at 100 yds
This barrel was to replace and Aero Precision barrel that I shot out so bad I couldn't even hit the paper of the target at 100 yards, never-ending the target. I got this barrel because it's made in my home state and I wanna try something new. Installed and took it to the range with 7 different types of ammo. All ammo shot well and was within 2 MOA, but the Hornady Black A Max was about .6 MOA and all shots were touching. So I'm very happy with this barrel considering this is not a match grade barrel but is shooting like one out of a semi auto.

I have four Faxon barrels. After buying the first one I thought man this thing is accurate. The second one was just as good. I'm now at the point that I won't buy anything BUT a Faxon barrel. Mine are all 5.56 in various lengths but every one has pinpoint accuracy.

Faxon Firearms 5.56 NATO, Govt/Socom Profile 18" Rifle Barrel
Faxon barrels are nicely machined and shoot great. Barrel ramps are clean with no burrs, threads are nice, crown is right. The Black Friday discount made this an especially good value. I have to add that I'm very pleased with the vastly improved customer service and shipping times from Optics Planet compared to a couple years ago. My recent orders were shipped fast and I received prompt responses from customer support. Seems like they're on the top of their game now and I plan on many more orders in the future.

Faxon Socom
Im a fan of this barrel, for me it keeps the weight on the nose for less muzzle rise. With a muzzle brake its a solid choice in my opinion. Excellent coating and fitment of the gas block (also from faxon).

I am repeatedly impressed by Faxon Barrels.
I've gotten to the point where pretty much all of my builds are made with Faxon.
1:8 twist is a huge selling point for me, able to stabilize the widest assortment of factory loads on the market.
In addition, the accuracy I've gotten out of these has always been superb.
Definitely a highly recommended component for a builder making a target, self-defense, or general use AR.
