I was highly disappointed with this drop in barrel because I spent hours hand fitting it to my slide. This required a lot of removal of metal around the chamber area of the barrel. I have not been able to shoot it yet but really hated removing / filing off the protective black coating. I am a gunsmith and was able to do this, I don’t think the average person would have the skills to accomplish this.

This barrel should be recalled. I ordered it because Faxon is a reputable brand and the price was very good, so it was sort of a blind buy on my part. Optics Planet did a great job with fast shipping and email confirmations. The barrel arrived while I was out of town. As soon as I returned, I grabbed my Glock 48 and pulled out my original barrel. Unscrewed the thread protector and O-ring from the Faxon barrel and slid it in. It doesn't fit!!! I'm not new to firearms by far but thought that maybe it's just me, it was a long flight. I put my original barrel back in and went outside to make sure everything worked properly by shooting a full magazine. I then came back in side and started over. Still a no go. I understand tight tolerances but to make this barrel fit could damage the firearm or barrel or possibly both. I'm now in the process of returning it. Optics Planet so far has been easy to deal with in the return process. I don't know how this barrel fits in other Glock firearms but the one that is made for the Glock 48 absolute doesn't fit and should be avoided. When compared to the original barrel side by side, it looks identical with extremely slight variations but those micro millimeters count. Avoid this barrel at all cost if you're purchasing it for Glock 48.
