Stops misfires and stove piping.

The OEM Ruger 10/22 is adequate for the shooter that does not mind occasional cycle problems and misfires. The captive firing pin, improved extractor, and smooth action of the Faxon bolt is amazing for someone that plinks a couple hundred or more rounds a week. My experience is zero problems, easy to clean, and it works very smoothly.

Great option for an upgrade on a 10/22

by ishootslo, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on February 19, 2026
I’ve run about 250 rounds through my 10/22 since the install of this bolt. It feels smoother than the factory bolt (my 10/22 is a 1975 model so wear could be part of that as well), was an easy install, and lessened feed issues I was having on occasion using rotary magazines. I haven’t tested it with a 15 round mag yet but now that I’ve got a Kidd charging assembly I’ll be testing that as well.

This Bolt is flawless, the machining is top of the line and IMO the best bang for the buck on the market. It will outperform bolts that are double the price.

Cons:
  • None

  • Plincking

Well Made Bolt

by Hawk, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on July 3, 2025
The Faxon bolt is a few thousands larger in certain dimensions, at least by my measurements, than the stock Ruger bolt. It took some fiddling to fit properly in my Ruger receiver. However it is well machined and surfaced. It’s a nice addition to any 10-22.
Pros:
  • nicely machined
  • Nicely made and finished.

Stock bolt was better.

by blueknight, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on April 7, 2025
I bought the Faxon bolt because of a video I watched. Installed the bolt and my groups opened up by at least 1.5 inches at 25 yards. I tried different torque values on the action screw and it helped very little. I'm going to reinstall the stock Ruger bolt and see if the groups close back up. It's a very well made bolt but, it just isn't working out for me.
Pros:
  • well made
Cons:
  • Groups opened up
