These caps are a joke to no end, they snap apart at the skinny O-ring area that goes around the lens or at the junction of the cap. They may be a .30 cent item at most!
FlIR was supposed to improve them. I called FLIR direct and they sent me 3 free replacement and none lasted more than 4 outings and I use my thermal extensively.

lens cap is good protection
I bought this lens cap as a back-up cap. The replacement lens cap for the lens cap that comes with the FLIR unit. It is exactly the same and can be used interchangeably. The FLIR is a rugged little piece of high tech kit, but it was expensive and deserves to be protected in the event the original becomes damaged. I kept it in the plastic bag it came in and used waterproof medical tape to tape it to the inside of the padded MOLLY compatible case I also purchased for in field repair if needed.
