Dennis's Review of FLIR Scout PS-24 Thermal Camera / Digital Thermal Imager
This is an expensive toy that is not worth $2000. I tried it out in the park at night and could hardly see the ducks on the lake and even though it was dark I could see them with my own eyes. Useless in the city where there is a lot of heat sources especially after sundown. I can't believe FLIR charges $2K for this thing! In the future these may be pretty neat when they get them improved and perfected. The problem is the resolution is SO poor. Everything looks like big blobs. I guarantee you that 80% of the people that buy these are returning them. I wouldn't pay anymore than $200 for this thing. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. You WILL be sorry and you WILL be returning it like I did after 2 days of testing it.It's great for spotting game on an empty field with no trees or bush. Deer stick out like sore thumbs from several hundred yards away. However, add any heat signature in the field of view (trees, brush, roads, buildings, the sky, etc) and the usefulness drops drastically. Read that carefully because TREES and BUSHES and everything else have heat signatures so if an animal is by the tree or you are not going to see it. JUNK!
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- Terrible resolution.
- Not worth $2K!
Would Recommend:
