I bought one of these for about half msrp and it is a great thermal optic at that price. The interface is simple and easy to use in the field. The resolution and magnification are great for 5-150 yards typical hunting. It has a modest size and weight for thermal scope. BUT... I received a new unit with a defective lcd. There were 3 zones of defective pixels that looked like smudges or areas of different contrast compared to the main display. Optics planet sent me a shipping label and refund promptly. I upgraded to a reap ir 35mm and the difference in image quality and detail is as significant as the price gap between the two units.
Pros:
- QUALITY MOUNT
- Great value on sale
- 640 17um resolution
- Fairly small and light
- Nice attached lens covers
Cons:
- Lcd not as nice as oleds display

Although this is my first thermal scope, it seems to do what it was designed to do very well. I am no expert, but the 30hz refresh rate appears to be sufficient. It should be noted that I have only used this scope playing around in the back yard and have not shot a gun with this mounted on. Love it so far and seems to be made well

The Flir Thermosight has proven to be a very nice improvement over the budget NV scope I had been using for feral hog eradication on my farm. Set up was easier than the budget NV scope. LaRue QD mount does seem to hold zero after removal and reattachement. Internal battery is wonderful and will last longer than you will. Zero'd much like a traditional scope and within 20 rounds I had 5 rounds in a pocket hand warmer at 100 yards. You can literally watch a bunny rabbit twitch his ears back and forth at 100 yards at 1 AM.
Maximum zoom appears to pixelate, unless 'ole Boss Hawg (or a hot target) is in the sight, then it's show time!
And of course, Optics Planet had the best price and service was impeccable.
Pros:
- Easy to operate and zero
- Rugged and Durable
- internal battery
- excellent image in small package

The Flir RS 64 was about the right size and weight I’d expected. The switches were easy to access. The front and ocular covers were very easy to flip up and down. The resolution was pretty good. Only two complaints are 1) the min focal length was about 10 yards. That makes it impossible to be used indoors. 2. The palettes are easy to use in open field, exactly like the night hog hunting videos I saw on YouTube, but to me, a little confusing in the city environment.
Pros:
- Nice size, strong, easy to use
Best Used for:
- Hunting or observation in the field
- Night hunting or observation in the field

After using a first generation ATN X-Sight with success for 2 years I never expected the Flir to be such significant upgrade. Zeroing the Flir was a snap, I got it on paper and 10 rounds later I had 5 of 5 shots in the center of a pocket hand warmer at 100 yards. Resolution did not disappoint with the RS 64. Easily navigated menus, simple set up. And I no longer need to carry all of those IR emitter accessories and extra batteries . Just an Anker recharger, and I’ve only had to use it on my cell phone so far due to the fact the Flir’s battery lasts longer than I do. Yes, I’m very pleased, now if it will only stop raining when I go on my weekly feral hog hunts. Oh yea, it’s water proof... if only I could tolerate hunting in cold rain!
