Most Helpful Negative Review
For Bolt action only
I did some more research on this ammo and after lots of fit tests I'm thinking this ammo was manufactured for a Bolt action and not an AR platform. The bullet sets out 1/4" further than the other ammo that I have and doesn't allow it to load properly. Very disappointed
Questionable speed
Cycled fine. Shot sub half in groups at 50 yards. Dirty, but that is what it is.
My problem is the questionable speed. Allegedly 1050ish out of a 12 inch barrel (according to the manufacturer). I was getting 1115-1140 out of mine with an omega 36 can. It isnt the end all be all, but it does get slighly annoying when theyre sold as 'subsonic' but atleast 50% of them are supersonic over the chrono. I would not exactly say theyre short barrel optimized, as i was finding some unburnt power inside my can

My son in law and each bought 60rds of this ammo and some of it won't load and if it does load it won't cycle. I tried 2 other manufacturers and they both ran fine.

Grade A Ammo
Fort Scott Munitions 8.6 Blackout Subsonic 285 Grain CNC Machined Solid Copper Brass Cased Centerfire Rifle Ammunition is fantastic defense ammunition. It produces a 2 inch wide wound cavity in 10% ballistic gel. I does over penetrate, but that's to be expected from 8.6 blackout.
Pros:
- Wide wound channel
Cons:
- Over penetration
Best Used for:
- defense

Fort Scott 8.6 Blackout
I ran through 60 rounds last weekend and they all cycled and were surprisingly accurate. I was also surprised by the recoil or lack of with this round. They all mushroomed uniformly off the steel targets. I would recommend these rounds to anyone with an 8.6 because there's not a ton of options out there and all of them are expensive. I used these with a YHM suppressor and they were easily ear safe. The clank of the steel plate was much louder than the report of the round. The brass case hitting the floor seemed loud compared to the gun!

Do not buy
The rounds look nice, but a few literally came apart ( projectile, and brass casing came apart) while trying to chamber. I would not buy this brand again
Pros:
- available
Cons:
- poor build quality
Best Used for:
- nothing

8.6 Blackout Nice!!
The ammunition is well made and shoots extremely well. Not a lot of dust. I can’t wait to shoot suppressed with some supersonic.
