GmoneyTexas's Review of G Seven G7 BR2 Ballistic Rangefinder

There are many range finders on the market. I have owned just about all of them. As a world traveler hunter, I have used RFs from Leupold, Sig, Bushnell, and Leica...as well as Range Finding Binos from Swarovski and Leica. I made the jump to the Binos a couple years ago and love both pair. But I bought the G7 BR2 Rangefinder just over 3 months ago, after I saw a guide using it in Utah and I was impressed. Optics Planet just started carrying it and didnt have much info so I called Gunwerks at spoke to Chris. Amazing amount of info he gave me. I had to have it. So I went back to Optics Planet and picked it up. Might be best gun related purchase I have ever made.

I am not sure why I have never used anything else in the last 4 years. I just didnt know about it. The accuracy of the laser is fantastic. Three nights ago, I was able to range an Elk at 1820 yards!!! An animal...at over a mile. The best my Leica ever did was 1050. I have been able to range a MuleDeer at 1250 in the middle of the day when Rangefinders dont work well. This did. I have been able to harvest 9 animals with this at ranges of 540 to 1173 yards over the last three months. The ballistic calculator (and no....no one else's RF can do what this does) take into account the velocity and BC of my bullet, zero, sight height, and ALL the weather parameters. I have a 1000 ft 70 degree custom BDC turret on my rifle, and I just got back from a bear hunt in Alaska. My last shot was at 8500 elevation, 977 yards, at a 30 degree incline and it was 29 degrees when I shot. The BR2 calculated for a 40 degree and a 7500 difference in elevation. I guessed the wind at about 7mph, the BR2 told me what my wind hold was, and I got the bear dead center. Dropped him on the spot! Chris at Gunwerks was the most knowledgeable person I have ever talked to in the gun industry, not sure I will ever buy something else again without calling him first. Thank you OP for finally bringing this in!
