Most Helpful Positive Review There is NOTHING that comes close
There are many range finders on the market. I have owned just about all of them. As a world traveler hunter, I have used RFs from Leupold, Sig, Bushnell, and Leica...as well as Range Finding Binos from Swarovski and Leica. I made the jump to the Binos a couple years ago and love both pair. But I bought the G7 BR2 Rangefinder just over 3 months ago, after I saw a guide using it in Utah and I was impressed. Optics Planet just started carrying it and didnt have much info so I called Gunwerks at spoke to Chris. Amazing amount of info he gave me. I had to have it. So I went back to Opti...

This is a great piece of equipment. I'm surprised it is discontinued! My only problem is I lost the instruction manual!!! Need a new one.

Great for "field hunting" where your game is at various distances and different sizes or elevations.
Pros:
  • 5 separate settings
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting 200 to 1000 yards

G7 BR2 Rangefinder

by Jesse, from ID, United States Written on December 22, 2017
This is a great product. Allows up to 5 weapons to be programmed in to it which allowed me to switch between weapons without having to input a bunch of data again. The unit itself is basically a hand held weather station giving data for everything except wind speed. The range finding feature works ultra fast even a longer distances. I did notice that after firing rounds through my chronograph and entering the speed in the G7 that my shots were not hitting the bulls eye at longer distances. But with a little tweaking and then reentering the velocity in the G7 that the shots were right back on target.
This is a great range finder even if it is a little pricy. It was a huge step up in performance and quality over my previous range finder that I paid over $500 for. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to test their skill at shooting distances over 500 yards.
Pros:
  • easy to switch between weapons once all information has been entered
Cons:
  • Price is a little high, but worth it.
Best Used for:
  • Long range shooting and hunting

Amazingly Accurate, Fast & Reliable

by TomTanner0219, from OK, United States Written on June 27, 2017
This G7 BR2 is awesome. I am recently got into the long range shooting community. Dabbling with PRS a little, but the real passion is hunting. I picked up the Sig Kilo 2400ABS a few months ago and love it. I thought. It was the most sophisticated piece of equipment I have ever used for hunting. I was told by a buddy to buy the Kilo. So I did. The information that I was getting for a solution in the rangefinder would not match my drop chart. SIG sent me a replacement unit. When I got it, solutions seemed to be right once programmed, but my biggest trouble I has was the lack of picking up animals. I called SIG again. After a 20 minute call, the gentleman got quiet on the phone and said, Call Gunwerks and get their BR2 Rangefinder, it is designed for animals, where ours is designed for reflective targets. So I did. Luckily I am blessed and can afford both units, but I am not sure how most other people can find this information out until they drop the money. I looked and Optics Planet was a dealer, so I picked one up.

What I like about the BR2 is that is programmable by hand in the field, I dont have to mess with complicated apps on the phone. It is a larger unit, but not really heavier, so I can hold it steady by hand, and dont feel the need to lean against a tree or put onto a tripod. I was able to range a Mule Deer on my property this morning from 1,280 yards. Side by side with the SIG, On a tripod, I could not get a range on any animal over 900. T...

Nothing even compares

by Jaycee, from CA, United States Written on December 20, 2016
From the moment I picked up the G7 BR2 rangefinder I knew I was going to be in love. High quality is an understatement, and for the price, you really do get what you pay for. The range is amazing. The fact that it measures range, pressure, temperature, and incline gives me the best chance to hit the target at a ridiculous distance right out of the box. Shockingly good. Highly recommend.
Pros:
  • Everything
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Long Range Accuracy
