Is amazing how much information Galko doesn't give you. I wish they had a better application chart..
First off there is a tiedown loop built-in on the holster side. There's a loop for your belt and on the magazine side there is an attachment to to your belt.
Second. Fitting isn't easy .... Galco has a YouTube video but frankly it's not very well done and it doesn't cover the VHS very well at all.
What worked for me? Big office binder clips the ones that hold paper together. Using those allowed me to easily adjust the shoulder rig, but even with that I had to readjust it many times to get it to really fit well.
Take your time! play with it, be patient. It will be worth it in the end.
Another tip, the holster retention strap is a little tight what I did was I soaked the leather in water for a little while and wrapped my empty gun plastic wrap, snapped everything together in the holster and let it stretch out and dry. Also a little oil on the snaps seems to help.

In the end, this vertical shoulder rig is extremely comfortable and frankly pretty cool looking, Some big advantages is that when you're driving or sitting, you can access your firearm without being a contortionist and a shoulder holster doesn't pull your pants down when you're carrying a full-size 1911 and a couple of magazines.

The magazine pouches are a bit tight for 45 ACP eight round magazines, again the water trick works.

Quality leather holster, not too hard to fit however snaps take some breaking in as well as the holster itself. I have a 54-inch chest, and it is in the last hole of adjustment so it would not fit anyone larger, the vertical holster to me is a safety feature keeping you from having the barrel pointed in someone else's direction. I bought the holster for a Glock 21, however in a need to situation it will also hold my 1911. So far there is no Cons I can find with the holster and am still breaking it in, I find I can carry my full-sized Glock concealed with a jacket or shirt over t shirt.

This really grieves me to make a review like this.....but it would be right not to point out that Galco has
been bought out and now makes a less duty hard product.

I bought the Galco Vertical S/H system 4.0 and have been happily using Galco holsters since 1989.
All of them are still fit for duty.....all five (5) of them!

With this new purchase from Optics Planet I discovered some troubling issues that I've seen before.

The leather itself appears to be thinner and less sturdier than any of my previous Galco products. It leads
me to believe they are using imported leather from a much warmer climate without benefit of nourishment.
When I was a kid we all had horses and saddles growing up. American saddles were made with rugged and thick
leather. Some imported saddles made in a country on our southern border looked good but the leather was not as
thick and as a result would not hold up to daily use. Our Dad bought a small pony saddle of that inferior quality against his judgement and sure enough it didn't last. His words were, "I gave them a chance and it lasted as long
as I thought it would." The test saddle wouldn't take a shine, the stitching would tear from it's place since there was little thickness to hold it.

They other noticeable difference is the strap retaining hardware. Galco no longer uses quality metal screw and nuts.

They have made slots in the straps for the use of flimsy plastic retainers. The appearance of the New Parts show they are thin and...

I chose this due to the fact that a full size 1911 is almost impossible to wear and actually access IWB or OWB and also use a seat belt. Also I’m in my seventies and the extra weight is more comfortable spread across my shoulders. As a police officer for nearly three decades I’ve had a lot of other shoulder holsters and was never that at ease with the horizontal ones pointing at the guy behind me. The Galco vertical is top notch in fit, finish and comfort with one exception: the plastic strap adjusting buckles are very sharp on the inside against my skin. Granted, if I were wearing a fairly stout undershirt it might be better but I live in Florida and often only have an athletic tank top or no undershirt, just a light cover shirt, tropical style. Therefore one less star!

Ya may not think that you could successfully conceal a full-size pistol, but this system makes it possible. For a while, my 1911 was the only handgun I could shoot well enough to carry, so I thought I'd try the vertical shoulder holster system. And yeah, works quite well. I found I can hide it under a loose fitting hooded sweatshirt and still draw quickly from a seated position. The only issue I have is that the pistol grip does stick forward somewhat, but that's likely because I'm trying to hide such a big gun on my person. Anyway, highly recommend.

This is the second Galco holster rig I have purchased for the FN 5-7. I was ordering a new 5-7 for a customer and he asked about a good comfortable holster for it. I showed him my rig and let him try it on. This new one I ordered for him so when his new 5-7 arrived he would be good to go. He loves the setup and remarked how soft the leather feels even brand new before breaking it in. I have several other Galco holsters and love them all!

I was very impressed with this holster system. I bought it to hold my Taurus Tracker 627. The gun fits very snug but not so much that you couldn't draw in a hurry. I really got this holster to open carry on the farm and conceal carry on walks with the dogs in the fall. The speed mag side is very bulky so I will use a different belt attachment. I'm 6'2" 290lbs and it just borderline fits. If I ate a big meal it might not. I assume it will stretch a bit over time. The leather is quality along with the craftsmanship. I hang it in my closet and now everything smells like leather. I wouldn't trade in my IWB EDC for this but for the specific purposes I mentioned it is perfect.

The leather is fantastic and I’m pleased with the tan and the quality is exactly what I expected. I needed the weapon holster to be fastened to my belt while I ride my Cafe Racer and be secure. The plastic belt retaining buttons (not sure what to call them) are strong enough to hold the belts. It takes some manipulation back and forth to understand how to secure the belts properly.

Love this unit. Have had several over the years from other vendors. This one is ideal for daily carry or range time. Sturdy, yet extremely pliable leather. Comfortable & durable. The belt hold downs are great for fast adjustment.

I am very impressed with my new Galco shoulder holster. The quality is great and the fit is very comfortable. This is a very excellent way to carry concealed. I carry a Sig Sauer p226 with two magazines and the system is very comfortable. I recommend this system to anyone looking for a very nice leather shoulder holster.
