Warning. Use At\Beyond 25 YDS.!

by Theo, from LA, United States Written on September 26, 2014
This looked to be the trap I needed for indoor .177 1000fps 7.9g lead pellet shooting with my Benjamin Titan XS at 10 yds....WRONG! In just 5 back-to-back bulls eye shots, I perforated the deflector back of my new Gamo 18 gauge sheet metal target housing. By 25 off-center shots, I was severely denting the sides and having to handle lead shrapnel flying back at me. FYI, Always Shoot with Good Eye Protection!

I called Gamo concerning their sheet metal target housing...they recommend a minimum of 25yds when shooting a 1000fps air rifle like mine to keep from destroying it and minimize shrapnel and ricochet (Min. Distance Not mentioned in the packaging description or directions).
Pros:
  • Cheap!
  • easy assembly
Cons:
  • Thin 18 Gauge Sheet Metal
  • Packaging\Directions Not Informative
Best Used for:
  • Outdooe, 25Yds+ Taget Shooting

Not Well Built Enough for .22 cal Pellets

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 15, 2013
This is a good product for .177 pellets, but after only 10 shots from my .22 cal (950fps) pellet rifle this little trap was showing signs of damage. The deflector plate is pushed, bent, back showing deep denting after only 10 shots of .22 cal pellets. Also, deep denting is showing on the outside of the traps pellet catcher. I feel continued use with .22 pellets will eventually cause the complete destruction of this little trap.
My .177 pellet pistol is just fine with this trap, so it's a little trap for little guns!
Pros: Easy to Set-up
Cons: Only Handled .177 pellets well
