I got the mirrored blue lens, classic Gargoyles. Great price. They look right. They come in a much superior case than they used to, that actually has a chance of protecting the lenses.

But Gargoyles are now made in China. The same place that used to send us high performance "grade 8" bolts for critical applications (such as the bolts that hold the cars on a ferris wheel) which turned out to be merely mild steel with bogus grade 8 markings and a really good coloring job to make them look right.

Gargoyles used to claim to be made with polycarbonate lenses. Optics Planet's online information does not specify this, and there was no such indication shipped with the sunglasses. Gargoyles used to claim to be proofed against birdshot from a 12 ga. shotgun at 10 feet. Now, Optics Planet merely says they protect your eyes from "projectiles." What? A projectile like a spit ball from a plastic straw? I just don't know.

And that is the problem. I have no real information. SIGH. So all I can really say about these sunglasses is that they look nice, the lenses are very clear, and they come in a nice case. If you are buying Gargoyles for the ballistic protection of the old ones, I can't recommend these. If however you merely want to have some really large sunglasses to keep the sun out of your eyes, these are great.

great pair of shades. the mirror could be a little better. covers eyes well. if you have a smaller face, they may be too large. good price for product. would recommend to my friend. look cool. good protection
