Most Helpful Positive Review Gerber Downrange Tomahawk
I am a fan of Gerber products so I wanted to give it a try. It's well made quality product with multiple uses. Depending on what you would use this for, I think it's a decent tool. But I would have thought that for the price it would have come sharpened, it did not. I haven't used it for breachi...

Most Helpful Negative Review Axe itself seems OK but very cheap straps and holsters!
The axe pick/tomahawk itself seems OK, but the straps and the holster broke the first time I tried to connect them. They are made of very cheap fake leather material. For the (high) price, I was expecting everything to be of good/high quality, not cheap plastic holster and straps made in China whi...

Not a Tomahawk

by Jason, from NV, United States Written on June 21, 2023
I see a lot of people complaining about how dull this ax head is and how it's not balanced properly. This is not supposed to be used as a traditional tomahawk. This is more of a versatile breaching tool. Is it as good as traditional breaching tools? Not likely, but you can have one tool that is packable and can get the job done. The quality of the product is good and I'm sure it'll hold up to much abuse. It's priced on the higher end, but compare it to the price of a Winkler Sayoc and it's reasonable.
Pros:
  • Multi use
  • reasonable weight
  • Solid constructin
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • grip could be better
  • handle heavy
Best Used for:
  • Breaching

by HitmaNn-519, from ON, Canada Written on May 12, 2019
Great tool for many jobs, very well built and sturdy fairly thick full tang bar very durable. The only issue i had what so ever was the fact that it comes dull, im not a professional blade sharpener so i was hesitant to sharpen it myself but i did a good job none the less but thats my only complaint i REALLY wish it was sharpened well first to give me a starting point.
Pros:
  • GREAT TOOL
  • Breaching
Cons:
  • dull blade
Best Used for:
  • Breaching
  • Door opening
  • opening crates
Would recommend: Yes

Downrange Tomahawk

by ElkCnty, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on February 16, 2016
Great product and well made. Not very sharp but that depends on how you plan to use it. If you are splitting some wood for the camp fire and removing nails or as a pry bar. Take about 10 minutes to sharpen with a wheel grinder. For a real sharp blade, get out your stone and oil. Holds a really good edge when sharpened

If you are using it a breaching tool. Run with what they give you as there is no need to sharpen it.

Overall well construction and hasn't bent prying open and old wooden shed

  • well made
