Pan's Review of Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier

This carrier fits my unique needs, which is why I bought it, and gave 4 stars. For 99% of people, I don't think it's a good choice.

I had some old rectangle shaped plates that I wanted a cheap but decent carrier for. This carrier is designed for shooters/SAPI cut plates, but due to the open corners, you can fit rectangle plates in it.

So this carrier was a good choice for that situation. Otherwise, I can't say I'd recommend it. I was rather annoyed when I saw the color. All my gear is Ranger Green, this carrier is some sort of brightish green instead. Unless you have odd shaped plates like mine, the open corners is definitely a negative. It leaves your plates exposed to dirt/the elements. For me it was the only option I could find to get a semi modern carrier that would fit my plates.

Overall, the quality is OKish, but not quite as high as I'd hoped. I do like the buckle design, it's quick and easy compared to cummerbunds, and a whole lot cheaper than QD tubes.

I'd suggest you don't buy this unless you happen to have some goofy rectangle plates. There's better budget carriers out there.
Pros:
  • Buckles for quick access.
Cons:
  • Not Ranger Green.
Best Used for:
  • 25 year old Italian rectangle plates
